You Know it's Funny...

At a glance you could look up and see a gray cloud. Then the melancholy foreboding would come over you as a response to the "sure sign" of rain.

But all it would take is to look around the building, the obstruction, the obstacle, to see what there is a brilliant sunset in motion on the other side, just beyond your vision. The sun brightly shines a radiant gold onto everything, enriching every color. The clouds turn bright pink near the sun as shafts of the tinted light burst through every opening, singing an eloquent melody of sweet hues across the sky. And it's then you realize...

the clouds were never gray.
They were purple.

The pink light sweeps across the entire sky, catching on the light, brush-stroked clouds. And I wonder how the sun can reach the sky behind me even when sinking so low.
Do the clouds change color in space? Or is it all part of our perception? Would that mean no two people can ever see the same sunset, even when standing next to one another?

What makes the sun "go down" is the fact that we are actually revolving and rotating. It's still there, we are just slowly turning away from it. Even on the other side of the world the sun rises on the east and sets in the west.

I wonder if there's any significance to that...

It's got to mean something. It always does

Beautiful writing. . . This post really reminds me of this scripture:

“Therefore we do not lose heart. … For our light and momentary troubles are achieving for us an eternal glory that far outweighs them all. So we fix our eyes not on what is seen, but on what is unseen. For what is seen is temporary, but what is unseen is eternal.” II Corinthians 4:16-18
If storms and obstacles and a gloomy forecast are all we ever focus on, and we never look, or hope, just beyond our vision, then we’re missing out on the big picture—an ‘eternal glory’ that rises in the east and sets in the west, even on the other side of the world. Perhaps we didn’t realize that the gray clouds are actually purple because we’re trying to look at them without the proper lighting:
“You are my lamp, O Lord; the Lord turns my darkness into light.”
II Samuel 22:29
If we look at things the way God does, perhaps we’ll see them for what they really are.

Curiously I had a dream the other night where I saw the moon scared with wounds of blue darkness. Then the Stars started to fall and at the same time I saw the sun dawning exactly like your picture...

The Sun is the moment where we see everything clearly, It burns away the illusions of the night. True there is a different sunset for every person, but only one sun. Man cannot see the light, he is destined only to be able to see what is illuminated by it.

Its beautiful Britt. :)

Hi Brittany, my name is Jen--I came across your blog because of alot things we had in common. I'm glad I did--I very much enjoyed your thoughts.

Count it all joy when you face trials of many kinds, for you know the testing of your faith develops perseverance... James 1

Sometimes it's hard to take joy in our grey clouds, but we have to see the big picture to realize they're only purple. :) Thanks for sharing!
